Do you play in your daily life? What says “playtime” to you?
In my last post, I mentioned 2025 is a 9 year, a year of spiritual development. Hell, even in my podcast, I mentioned this is a year to “see God.” Now when you hear all these things, atheist or not, and you have no choice but to have an emotional reaction towards it. Why? Because these things inherently bring deep transforms—even just those words can be equated to a sort of “heaviness.” However, I want to take this prompt as an opportunity to reframe this perspective.
Let’s start with understanding, 9 in astrology correlates to the 9th House, Jupiter, and Sagittarius. Long story short, all of these deal with themes of “wisdom and grandeur.” With even more detail, Jupiter is also known as Zeus..the God of Gods (in the Greek pantheon). If you don’t know about Zeus, the most powerful God of Olympus, he’s a wild boy—extravagant parties & displays, lots of consorts & children, and always somehow on the right side of luck. That doesn’t sound so “heavy” now does it?
What Sagittarius understands more than any other sign, is that life doesn’t have to be taken so seriously. Even the most serious things, can be made into a joke—in fact that’s all life is, the divine comedy. What’s heavy can actually be made light, if viewed from the right angle. Something can be taken as seriously as God or life itself, but who says God doesn’t laugh?
That’s what I think Sagittarius wants us to understand this year. After a long year of transforming through harsh exposures to truth, it doesn’t mean we have to continue on with this heavy head. We can learn to accept change for what it is. We can adapt, just like the mutable Sag, and expand our horizons by being comfortable with pushing ourselves beyond our limits.
What’s also interesting, is right after Sagittarius comes Capricorn. I’m writing this during the early stages of Capricorn season, Pluto just left Capricorn for the last time (for another couple millennia), and Saturn (ruler of Cap) is on its way into Aries. This is a time of structuring our goals and putting discipline behind our actions. We have a bigger grasp on faith, which will help us as we continue to build for the future. This is turning motivation into tangible results. But it’s kinda hard to be disciplined, motivated, while simultaneously remaining light in frequency. In fact, just the energy of “discipline” can feel quite heavy or just downright boring.
Discipline may feel dull, but the things you’re working towards won’t. That’s what both Jupiter and Saturn is reminding us. You’ll feel alive when you treat discipline as a game instead of an obligation. How many more reps can you do at the gym? How many more hours of sleep can you get? How sooner can you wake up early? How many podcast episodes can you get done this week? How many articles can you get through in this hours? Gamifying things in this way takes a lot of the unnecessary pressure off our shoulders while simultaneously keeping us actively engaged.
So approach your goals like a child in the arcade. It’s all a game. How can you make this more fun? That doesn’t mean you’re not still determined to win, it just means.. winning is the actual goal. Having fun is. I mean sure, we all “play to win” right? But what are we playing? Like I said, a game… which ultimately exists for the sole purpose of having a fun experience.
Now no game is fun, if you keep losing and never actually figure out how to play. You have to learn the rules, how to keep score, and all of the little boring things related to the game mechanics. This is the “learning and widom” part of Sagittarius. Cultivate a deeper sense of curiosity. Realize that you actually DON’T know the best course of action. This will lead you down a path of experimentation. Travel long enough, you’ll stumble across novelty; something never examined before. This is a hint of magic. Now dive deeper, gamify.. experiment. What can you do with this newfound awareness? Better yet, what can it do for you? And best of all, what can it do for others?
When you approach your goals like this, it becomes less about the destination and more about the journey. Funny, that’s another thing Jupiter deals with, long-distance travels. That’s also where dreams come in. Our life goals, are what, if not a long-distance travels? It’s literally a journey that will take up majority of our lives. Pretty long distance. Anyways, approaching life from this standpoint, is all about experimentation. If you’re a scientist, (or INTP), I don’t have to explain to you have fun experimenting can be. If not, then look at it from this perspective: imagine the child who found out their favorite toys has a hidden ability/feature. Here’s another example, a musician accidently creates an instrument like tool, by putting beads on his jacket—which seems to make a high pitched tone everytime he zips it open/closed. These little moments of randomness and uncertainty, allowed for fun to creep in.
So with all of the random events and chaotic energy, it’s imperative to have fun this year. It can be easy to feel overwhelmed by so many energies stacking up and hitting us back to back. The thing is, energy is simply information. That’s why Sagittarius is all about learning; it’s not like this random energy isn’t serving you at the end of the day. In fact, that’s how you’re gaining experience and thus gaining “wisdom.” It’s one thing to know something, but to actually go through it? That’s the difference between wisdom and knowledge—the experience and lack thereof.
Want wisdom this year? Want experience? Then experiment. Experiment with what? The things you’re building. The things you love. Why? Because not only will you introduce magic into your creative process, you’ll also be inviting fun into your life. So for lack of better ways to end this article, be Godlike this year. Seek truth. Seek wisdom. Seek expression. Hone curiosity. Enjoy yourself. If you’re not having fun, them why are you doing it? Hopefully to gain knowledge. But if you’re not getting smarter OR more aligned from this activity, is this something you truly need to be experiencing?
